[Spoiler alert] The future does not exist
Now is all that there is.
How 'the future' shows up in our minds is fascinating.
When we talk about 'the future' to each other (or to ourselves) we presumably picture a 'block of time' somewhere out there; somewhere beyond where we feel we are physically located in time right now.
However if you think about it carefully right now was 'the future' (as we might have imagined it) back then.
Do we now breathe a sign of relief in recognition for having arrived at the future?
Obviously not, no.
Do we now actively reflect on the anxieties that we held about 'the future' that we had and consciously realise that we are now living the moment that was stressing us out?
Obviously not, no.
Where is this future then? What happened to it? Did it even exist in the first place?
The future is always being pushed out; it is never realised.
It's a figment of our imagination...a memory of experiences that are yet to come, that either make us feel scared or excited thanks to our anticipation of it.
The future...is now
The seeds of how you will experience today, were planted in the past. Which also means that 'the future' is what you are creating today...right now.
The biggest secret hiding in plain sight, when you realise that the future does not exist, is that the future is created thanks to the choices (conscious and unconscious) that are made today.
Now is all that there is.
When you realise that the future hasn't as yet been written, you can then also fully appreciate how open it is to being actively created.
