Remote Cheerer lets fans voice their support in absentia

Social distancing has put a huge dampener on the future of live sporting events.

Social distancing has put a huge dampener on the future of live sporting events and our basic human need to scream and shout for our favourite team and throw dirty insults at the opposition.

But Yamaha have a cunning plan to give fans remote access to hurling abuse at the opposition via an app called Remote Cheerer.

Fans can sit anywhere and live stream their happiness / anger via the app, the collective sound is then broadcast live via the stadium's sound system.

So even though the stadium is empty, it will at least sound like somebody cares.

Even though it's a clever idea, the reality of it is incredibly sad. Let's hope it won't be something that finds value for too long.
