Madonna, Robert Palmer, Britney Spears and Tina Turner make a comeback for Pepsi

Turning 125-years old has given Pepsi a good excuse to wind back the clock

Pepsi's 125th birthday celebrations have given the brand permission to bring back a number of its iconic commercials from yesteryear, featuring some of the most legendary music stars of all time.

Yes, Pepsi is reliving the good ol' days of their collaborations with superstars from the 80s, 90s and 2000s by bringing them back for this year’s MTV VMAs being held on 13 September 2023.

Madonna's "Like A Prayer" (1989)

Robert Palmer's "Simply Irresistible" (1989)

Britney Spears' "The Joy of Cola" (2001)

Tina Turner's "Taste For Pepsi" (1986)

Ray Charles' "The Right One Baby" (1991)

Nostalgia marketing is everywhere.

From the blockbuster success of the Barbie movie to the significant explosion of 'kidulting' - adults are regressing into the safety of their remembered childhoods. Away from the anxiety-inducing political headlines and real uncertainties surrounding the futures of work; people are finding relief in 'simpler times'.

Brands that consciously supply into this demand are finding favour with many.
