On a quest for less

Nimble, fast… agile. That’s what you want.

You want to be light enough to dance, but infamous enough for the world to care that you’re still moving.

You want to be laser-focused on what matters most, and cut anything that weighs you down.

Start-ups are often great at this. And you don’t have to go far in Cape Town to experience this kind of “dedication to less” for yourself.

Companies that offer less on purpose spend less time trying to manage what they’re trying to market. They appear more confident. They hire fewer people and maintain a smaller number of systems.

What does this look like?

It’s a one-page menu.

It’s a small range.

It’s intentionally not adding too much to the roster.

It can be very tempting to plaster over subpar-performance by adding new solutions into the mix.

A better approach is to impose serious constraints on what can be feasibly offered, and then to aim for a winning performance from each selection.
