O Captain! My Captain!

Hoping and praying and wishing for a saviour to rescue you is pointless.

O Captain! My Captain!

There is a truth in life, that once realised and internalised, is both terrifying and liberating at the same time.

The truth is this:

'Nobody is coming to save you.'

No political party is going to come in and provide the security that you think you need.

No employer is going to come and offer you that job or position that you think you deserve.

No romantic partner is going to pitch up and validate you in the way that you hope they will.

Hoping and praying and wishing for a saviour to rescue you is pointless.

But the good news is, once this realisation has sunk in...once you have fully accepted that you have a lot of influence over how things play out from now on, you then take personal responsibility for the future that you want.

Rather than outsourcing your salvation, you take command of your own life's journey.

Once you stop expecting miracles to be granted to you by others, you start to believe that you are capable of creating them for yourself.
