Bird watching, fly fishing, hiking - are all simple outdoor activities that have experienced a strong surge in popularity since start of the pandemic.

With gyms, restaurants and bars all off limits due to government imposed lockdowns, people are rediscovering the joys of getting out of the city and into the countryside for a bit of rest and relaxation.

With some of the very best outdoor landscape on the planet - this trend is good news for the struggling South African tourism sector.

Although Cape Town is a beautiful city and offers exciting nightlife options and some of the best beaches in the world, the surrounding areas also offer opportunities for people to get back into nature. This perhaps just needs to be highlighted a bit more.
