It's November, which means that it's that time of the year again where British retail brands release their much-anticipated Christmas ads.
Waitrose kick things off with this terribly-British celebration, complete with an old Depeche Mode backing track and a guest appearance by Graham Norton to add a bit of star power to the mix. The whole scene is most probably what No. 10 must have been like during the height of the covid-19 pandemic lockdowns.
The ad even features a spot of load-shedding towards the end; obviously they're still a bit bitter about being kicked out of the World Cup by South Africa and want to a least feel like they are also a part of some of the magic that we have over here. Shame.
What is rather innovative about the spot is that all of the food items featured in the ad can also be purchase from a dedicated online store.
Looks like we might be moving away from the overly-sentimental Christmas commercial in favour for something a bit more light-hearted. Hooray for that.
