Gillian Tett: Bitcoin will most likely end up becoming the MySpace of the Facebook era.
She is warning about the unregulated power of geeks and the technology tools that they build.
I remember Gillian Tett in the movie 'The Inside Job' - she's an anthropologist, editor of the FT, and a very interesting person to listen to.
Even though she works for the FT, she's a contrarian and is credited as one of the key people who forecast the 2008 financial crisis.
Now she is warning about the unregulated power of geeks and the technology tools that they build.
'We are living in a time that is heavily influenced by the convergence of three powerful forces: the dangers of myopic worldviews that are exclusionary and riddled with bias, extraordinary progress in technology advancement, and shifting in the world's power balance.'
The cross-section of these three things is heavily influencing the world and resulting in the massive disruptions that we see around us.
