Futures thinking

Something that is fast becoming a necessity for everyone, rather than a nice to have.

Futures thinking

How's your thinking about the future?

If you cast your mind towards future times - do you feel excited, or rather a sense of dread?

Do you see opportunity, or instead something else that's less optimistic?

If considering the future fills you with anxiety. then it can be a kind of phantom that holds an enormous amount of abusive power. Obviously this is no way to navigate our lives.

Solving this issue requires the personal development of something called 'futures thinking'; a structured mental practice that builds competence to better deal with our rapidly transforming world.

At the heart of futures thinking is its plurality (futures) suggesting something immediately enlightening just in the name; that is, that more than one future is always available to us.

Far from the future being a fait accompli it is wide open to nudging it in different directions.

Futures thinking is fast becoming a necessity for everyone, rather than a nice to have.

It's only when we stop fighting with 'the dominant future', that can easily be mistaken for destiny, that we are then able to see how considering all the alternatives can serve us.
