The re-imagining of classical music
People in the 'classical music industry' have been grumpy for many years, because the popularity of classical music is fading.
Lured by the utter crap that gets classified as 'popular music' these days, young people are turning their back on Bach in favour of random AI-generated music that gets fed to them via a Spotify stream.
This however doesn't take away from the fact that the problem with classical music is largely the creation of the classical music industry itself.
You see - as is the case all too regularly in many industries - people in classical music, suffer from a lack of imagination. Stuck in the past, marketers of classic-fare keep on trying to sell the same old product to a dying audience and expecting a different result, instead of exploring the various futures that are available to the genre.
A brand that doesn't however suffer from a shortage of creative ideas is Ministry of Sound.
Yes...that Ministry of Sound (all of the Gen Xer's who were regulars at the G-Spot on Loop Street are nodding their heads and remembering the foul taste of 'smart drinks' sold by dodgy street vendors and Cadiz chips at 02h13 on a Sunday morning).
Teaming up with London's Royal Albert Hall, Ministry of Sound Classical is a mind blowing live event that 'brings the greatest dance tracks of all time to the stage - re-orchestrated, re-imagined, and re-lived with the power of the 50-piece London Concert Orchestra and sensational vocalists, all set to a stunning laser light production.'
To give you a taste of what this mashup sounds and looks like; here's celebrity organist (did you ever think that there would be such a thing?), Anna Lapwood, doing her thing with Faithless' Insomnia.

In the audience...thousands of delirious 50-something year-olds raging to...an orchestra.
The show looks insane. And another great example of innovative thinking. Combining two seemingly disconnected concepts to create something new and valuable.
