Fit for purpose?
In the final issue of The Briefing for 2024, we take a deeper look at a theme that has become all to prevalent - dysfunctional systems.
Far too many organisational teams are struggling with anxiety and burnout and all around us we can the result of systems that have become increasingly dysfunctional.
As much as we find this alarming - these systems are however still serving somebody / something through their dysfunction. The real question then is who / what is being served, and what can we do about it?
By understanding who / what the dysfunction is a benefit for, the system itself can either be redesigned, or abandoned (usually by the people who no longer want to be a part of the dysfunction by design).
By better understanding the common patterns of dysfunction that are prevalent in the world, we (decision makers / managers / leaders) are also able to consider the alternative choices that are available to us in response.
