Apple's Vision Pro will have a profound impact on the future of work
Most of the excitement around Apple's brand new Vision Pro device has been around the consumer application of the AR headset.
Certainly things like watching movies, gaming and gawking at the drop shadows on your apps will mesmerising, but will this new technology affect remote working and how companies engage with their talent?
In Tim Cook's own words, the idea of this thing is to enable you to "connect with people as if we're sharing the same space".
'One of the notable challenges in remote work is managing distractions in the home environment. The Vision Pro addresses this issue head-on, enabling users to create a personalized work zone that blots out the chaos and clutter of their surroundings. The device's proprietary "EyeSight" technology allows users to seamlessly transition between deep immersion in their work and awareness of their immediate environment with just a glance. According to Tim Cook, with the Vision Pro, users can "immerse themselves" in their work and "live in the future" today.' - via Entrepreneur
In so many ways, this thing is a real solution for the remote working class. Spatial computing will solve many of the real issues that the logistics of a globally distributed workforce working on screens and with existing peripherals creates.
